On Sunday morning, the third edition of the Aquatic Basketball Tournament took place in the Nazaré Pools. The event, which resulted from a partnership between the CAB, the Naval Club and the Regional Center of the Portuguese Association of Disabilities, mobilized large dozens of children and adults for an activity that aims to unite basketball and swimming, in a real test to the creativity and resistance of practitioners. Between music, fun and solidarity, the cause of people with special needs was reinforced , the main vector of union among all who took part in the event. Here we reproduce the opinions of some of the actors: Ricardo Sousa (Portuguese League Against Cancer): "It is to praise this initiative. There should be more times. It is to wholesome camaraderie, spirit of inter-help, much friendship and joy. It was a good morning." Mafalda Freitas (Club Naval do Funchal): "It was really good. The two objectives were met: raising funds for the Portuguese Association of Disabilities, and, more importantly, social inclusion through sport and the transmission, for the younger, of this spirit. Next year we hope to be here again." André Cunha (Naval Club of Funchal): "It's an interesting initiative. Every year we try to innovate. This year it was a shame the weather didn't help, but we're sure the next editions will remain a success." Filipe Rebelo (APD): " For the third consecutive year we have brought new faces and it is always possible to show solidarity. That's the only way to get real inclusion, disability or no disability." Francisco Gomes (CAB): "Knowing how to put sport at the service of social causes is a continuous challenge. To achieve this through initiatives such as these and in troubled times as we live is proof that we are all committed to fighting for something that is superior to any club or competitiveness, which is the cause of those who have to live every day with physical limitations and the social stigmas associated with them."
