João Gil Pereira is one of the new faces of CAB Formation. After several times of great success at ADRAP, the young coach and regional selector accepted the invitation of friends to bring their talent to the Nazaré club and integrate, as a technician, the CAB training project. So far, the experience has been positive, and the coach himself, who in his first interview with the CAB Official Site, describes the club as a real family. Here's the record of the conversation we had with the new coach at the club: What was your first impression of the CAB when you first got here? Very good, I have been well integrated and I have felt support from the direction, coaches, athletes and parents to feel good in the CAB. It is a big club and the inherent requirement is felt. But contrary to what happens in a large club, there is no distancing in personal relationships. How's practice going? Are you enjoying working at the club? In the sub-16s I find myself collaborating with João Fernandes and experience is allowing me to evolve a lot as a coach. The interaction with athletes has been very positive and I am very much enjoying working with them. In the Mini-8, the "clients" have incredible enthusiasm, vibrant energy and demand a lot of me and Carolina Scorcio, which has played a key role. And yes, I'm really enjoying being in the CAB! What are the main challenges you feel in the Mini-8 level? In my view, conceptually, it is the step in which the "mini" component prevails over the "basketball" component. I want you to get to the Mini-10 well prepared. For that, I always have the goal of leaving the minis with the desire to return to the pavilion. I look for the training to be frantic, fun, challenging and that has an impact on the training of each player or player. The challenge is to achieve these goals at a level that I have not trained in a few years and that it is not always easy to be at the level of what I demand for myself. Do you feel that there is a strong, self-identity in the CAB? Yes, I can see that everyone is very wary in defending the club. The history of the CAB has important names and achievements and fortunately the club continues to move for more. Respecting the club's history is a fundamental imperative. Transmit CAB values, too. People say the CAB is a family. Is that true? In what way? More than you say, sit, move, live... is a family! What aspects should the club improve in order to do a stronger formative work? With the little time I have at the club, I won't be the best person for that analysis. There were always CAB athletes in national teams and in foreign clubs. Senior teams have had in their constitution a large number of players and players of the house. For me, training has always been strong. In addition, I have felt on the part of technical coordination, monitoring and support in the implementation of the training program, in order to increase the quality of athletes. Is the proximity between the training levels and those with national participation noticeable? I only have a month of CAB, but I think so. I have always seen young practitioners in the games of senior competitions and in the time I am here I have seen the presence and intervention of athletes and senior coaches in training training. Very positive. What message would you like to leave for FAMILY CAB? I'm grateful for the opportunity I'm having. I'm already an adept, and I hope, too, I'll become an asset at the club. FORCE, CAP!!
