The CAB male team is less than a month away from returning to work. With a renewed squad, both with Madeiran players and players from outside the region, the team led by João Paulo Silva (‘Juca’) looks at the new era with confidence and sense of responsibility. The CAB's Official Website reached the address of the Friends' coach and asked him to share with us some perspective on the upcoming sports year. Here we record your words: When is training scheduled to start? The official date for starting training is September 14th. This is the date when all the elements of the squad will be present. However, we will start working with Madeira athletes on September 7. This is a process that aims to facilitate the framing of young athletes at work that we will develop in the professional team. Have you been talking to the players? Are they motivated for the coming season? I've been keeping in constant contact with the players who will be part of the squad. With some I have had the opportunity to guide some technical work during the vacation. Through the contact I made with foreign players, I realized that there was a great motivation to represent the CAB and play in the Portuguese League. Another key aspect is the connection I have maintained with Jorge Coelho, as captain of the team and with the intuition of following the recovery of the injury he contracted in the previous period. This early phase of the season is always characterized by great motivation and delivery by all players. We'll be able to seize this opportunity to sustain the construction of a strong team collectively. Will this year's Men's League issue be more or less competitive than last year's? One of the negative aspects was the withdrawal of a team, thus decreasing the number from 12 to 11 teams that will participate in this League. However, I am convinced that the participation of Porto will be an added value for the competitive level of the championship. We all know that a club like Porto when it participates in any competition always aims to win. By the hirings you've announced, along with the technical staff you own, we believe it's going to raise the level of this League. Another aspect that will likely increase the level of competition is the highest number of games that will be played. The competitive way will allow all teams to fight for entry into the playoffs until a very advanced period of competition. I recognize that some adaptations have been made that notice a concern to increase the level of this championship. Was it difficult to build the team within the financial constraints that the club has to follow? Teams depend heavily on the value of foreigners. In this regard, only one of them has played in Portugal and it will be our conviction that its adaptation is made in a natural way. The others come for the first time and, depending on their value, we can be a very structured and very competitive team. Another of the very positive aspects in the construction of the team was that we guaranteed the continuity of many of the players of the previous season. At the same time we achieved the return of Fábio Lima. Therefore, within the financial constraints, we have built a balanced team that will certainly have good behavior in the competitions where we are involved. If it is true that financial constraints do not significantly increase the solutions of the squad. It is no less true that with these resources, we have a motivating challenge to build a good team. It is my conviction that we will succeed. The CAB team includes eight Madeiran players. Is the idea that Madeiran player is not competitive refuted? In addition to being competitive, Madeiran players have a responsibility to feed the club's identity. They translate the reason for our training and, supported by a permanent follow-up by their coaches, can support the performance of functions that are very useful in building a team. The way the Madeiran player views the competition is always directly related to the quality of intervention of his coaches. Being more or less competitive comes from the way you work and not from the simple fact that you are from one region or another. I still think one of the greatest prides of a coach is to participate in a player's sport training process. Feeling that it has somehow contributed to increasing their competitive capabilities. The fact that he is Madeiran is not an obstacle to this course being successful. How far can the CAB go in the new competitive framework? There are no preemptive limitations. The CAB will be a very competitive team and will face all competitions as seriously as possible. This means that at all times you will understand that this CAB team will fight for victory, for participation in the high times. We want to gain a space that allows us to realize this will to win a title. We are not afraid to assume this pretense or admit that others define our goals. The path we are going to take will always be our responsibility.
