Coach João Freitas will lead the CAB senior male technical team during the 2013-2014 season. After dialogues with the Board of Directors of the SAD of Friends, the coach and the club have reached an understanding that will prolong the contractual bond between the two parties for another sporting season. João Freitas has done a valuable job ahead of the men's team of the CAB. Under his leadership, the club has achieved some of its best sports performances, with emphasis on the conquest of the Cup of Portugal and the meritorious rankings obtained in the regular phase of the championship. Even in the past period, and despite the deep economic setbacks that all regional sport faced, Friends completed the regular phase in second-rate, behind a Benfica with financial arguments and sports inaccessible to any Portuguese League team. In the playoffs the team was more irregular, losing in the game five of the semifinals with the Academica de Coimbra. The novelty in the renewal of João Freitas is that the coach will also take over the coordination of the CAB Training Schools. In a mission that is new to him, João Freitas will guide the way in which the younger Echelons of the CAB work, helping to establish concepts, methods and lines of development that provide the development of Friends and Newer Friends and establish bridges between Training and Senior Teams. The fundamental objective is thus to promote a greater rapprochement between seniors and non-seniors, as well as establishing work habits and tools that provide an ever-increasing integration of Madeiran athletes into the teams that compete in the Women's League and the Men's League. The club is very confident about the notion of Coach João Freitas to take on a mission that, over the years, has proved to be of great importance to the entire structure of the CAB and wishes him great success in fulfilling all the responsibilities that assist him.
