Next weekend, our Men's Under-16 team will be competing for the National Cup of their ranks. The right to participate in this competition further results from the fact that the CAB won the regional championship of the echelon, a factor that allowed the team to be cleared for the upcoming race. Thanks to the commitment of the parents of the athletes, the team will travel to Lisbon, where the Cup will be contested, costing all expenses of the trip. Once again, on behalf of Training Sporty of our athletes, the Club came together and managed to overcome the financial difficulties of the moment we lived. To highlight the great merit of fathers and mothers in this process, because they are the real responsible for the group's ability to take part in this test. In terms of calendar, the CAB team will play the first game on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. at the Carlos Alberto Carvalho Pavilion, in front of the Academic. If you win the match, the Madeirans will play on Sunday, in the same pavilion, at 9:30 a.m. against the winner of the match between Algés and the Sportive Union. On the eve of the departure to Lisbon, the CAB's Official Site spoke to the team's coach, Tony Freitas, and asked him to make a preview of the Sub-16s' participation in the National Cup. Your words are recorded here: “First of all, I would like to express my gratitude to the parents of the athletes, because without their collaboration and understanding, we would not be able to participate, given that they will pay much of the expenses we will have with this participation. Then, a thank you to the Club for the precious collaboration it also had in covering some expenses we will have and for having believed in my work and competence. Finally, a very special thank you to my athletes, who for a year had the patience and persistence to put up with a coach who is not always the most ‘soft’ with them, but who can be sure of one thing, works with you to be a little better every day.” “A special word for those athletes who have performed with us this whole journey, but who, for personal reasons, will not be able to accompany us in this participation. Thank you also for you.” “As for our participation in this National Cup, we will do everything to dignify the name of this Club and be able to bring another title to it. I remind everyone that this Club already has a History in terms of these performances and that it will certainly be proud, once again, of its athletes in this participation, because we will do everything to achieve this goal, with respect for the opponents and with a remarkable delivery and hard work in every second of the game that we play.” “I am an ambitious coach and would be lying if I said that’s not my wish. I tell my athletes to always work with the aim of being the best – and that is what we have done throughout this year and want to do it again. We know that it will not be easy, that our opponents have a much higher competitive pace than ours, but we must overcome ourselves and play everyone at our best level so that we can aim for the title.” “One last word again for my athletes, all different and all special: overcome yourselves, boys, do not miss this opportunity that is being given to you, and do everything in your power and a little more so that one day, later, you can be proud of what you have done and conquered, because do not forget that your future is built every day and it only depends on you to be better every day.”
