The CAB/CSM team received SIMECQ in a match counting for the 14th Women's Division. The match was very difficult for Madeirans, not only because visitors are a team of high quality players who have been playing together for a long time, which gives them great cohesion and competitiveness, but also because young friends urgently needed to win in order to ensure the permanence of the First Division as soon as possible, an objective outlined at the beginning of the season. The game began best for the Madeirans, who won the first period by 17-16. Despite some difficulty in transitions to the attack, the locations were countering the main strengths of the opponents. In the attack, the ball rotation was being good, and even though the release solutions were not always the best, the CAB/CSM was being able to score but the continental ones. In the second period, the SIMECQ extended its defense to the entire field, trying to force ball losses on the opposing team. Over and over, visitors have achieved their goal, stealing balls before the locals cross the field and getting easy points. Still, the CAB/CSM knew how to react in time and took over the reins of the match. The interval arrived with the marker in 38-31, again favorable to Madeirans. In the region of the resorts, the CAB/CSM was better and more aggressive than the opponents. The team successfully implemented the defensive strategy set up by coach Ricardo Montes, and as a result managed to leave quickly for several attacks, which resulted in points. In the organized attack, the locals also had the merit of making good moves. No surprise, the third period arrived with the Friends ahead for 52-43. In the fourth period, SIMECQ was determined, competitive and even shortened to 3 points the advantage that separated continentals from Madeirans. Although the victory of the CAB/CSM was never in danger, it was important for the locals to win by five or more points in order to compensate for the defeat by four points they had endorsed when visiting the Broken Cross. They were happy in this attempt the ones guided by Ricardo Montes, who, with a lot of courage, fought until the end, winning the game by 69-62. We express our pride in this group of players, which evolves 'in sight' from day to day, continuing the CAB's training work, as well as clear indications that the senior female team has its future secured and with players trained in our home. We extend our congratulations to Coach Ricardo Montes, who, with great commitment, patience and work, is conveying to our athletes the human and basketball values that define our club, helping them grow as athletes and also as women.
